How it works
Describe a phone app
Ask for “a phone app that…” or remix one of the phone apps in the feed (filter the feed to Phone apps).
Open it on your phone
Preview it live in the browser, then tap to open it natively on your iPhone or Android phone through Expo Go.
Take the code with you
Export it as an Expo project to GitHub, GitLab or a ZIP, and build it for the App Store and Google Play yourself.
Real code, not a wrapper
Phone apps on Remix are React Native code, the same framework many App Store apps use. Nothing is locked in: the export is an ordinary Expo project that any React Native developer can open.
What a phone app can do here
Phone apps use the standard React Native building blocks:
- Lists, tabs, forms, swipe gestures and animations.
- Timers, calculators, checklists, schedules and quizzes.
Phone apps you can open now
Phone appMood WeatherA playful weather app with animated sky gradients, an hourly strip, a 5-day outlook and a city switcher.Remix idea Add a packing tip for each day.
Phone appPlant CareWatering schedules for your houseplants, marked done with one tap.Remix idea Group plants by room.
Phone appHabit StreaksDaily habits, streaks, and the week at a glance.Remix idea A weekly goal instead of daily.
What it won’t do
- Phone apps don’t save data between sessions yet. Web apps do, so pick a web app for a tracker you’ll keep for months.
- Remix doesn’t submit to the App Store or Google Play. You export the project and publish it with your own developer accounts.
- Only a fixed set of common libraries is available inside Remix; after export you can add any library you like.
What it costs
- Every app is free to use, no account needed.
- 2 free remixes every month.
- $0.50 a remix after that, from prepaid credit.
- Pro $19.99/mo: 100 remixes a month + the Advanced console.
Questions
Can AI build a real mobile app?
Yes, a small one. Remix writes React Native code with Expo, runs it in the browser, and opens it natively on your phone through Expo Go. Exporting gives you the Expo project to build and publish yourself.
Is it React Native or a web view?
React Native. The phone apps are React Native components, and the export is a standard Expo project.
How do I put it on the App Store?
Export the app (GitHub, GitLab or ZIP), open it as an Expo project, and build it with your own Apple and Google developer accounts. Remix doesn’t publish to the stores for you.
What does it cost?
Using any app in the feed is free and needs no account. Each month you get 2 free remixes (a remix = changing someone’s app, a new version of yours, or a new app from an idea). After that a remix costs $0.50 from prepaid credit, with no subscription, and a remix that fails gives the $0.50 back. Pro is $19.99 a month for 100 remixes a month + the Advanced console.
