Do I need a GitHub Copilot subscription?

Which editors are supported?

VS Code (via the CodeAgent Mobile Marketplace extension) and the JetBrains IDEs — IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, GoLand, and the rest of the family — via the JetBrains plugin. Copilot runs where it always did; the extension just relays it to your phone.

Does my code leave my machine?

No. Copilot runs in your editor on your laptop and reads your local files. The CodeAgent backend only relays the prompt-and-response stream between your phone and the IDE — your repository stays local.

Is this the same as the GitHub Mobile app?

Open VS Code and go to the Extensions panel (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+X). Search for "CodeAgent Mobile" and click Install. (In a JetBrains IDE, install the CodeAgent Mobile plugin from the JetBrains Marketplace instead.)

The CodeAgent Mobile sidebar appears with a "Pair Device" button. Click it — a 6-character code and QR appear.

Open CodeAgent Mobile on your phone, tap "Pair Device", and scan the QR or enter the code.
